Big Dez

It has been nearly two years since we had the pleasure of French based bluesman Big Dez play for us at St Harmonica’s. Blues guitarist BIG DEZ (Phil Fernandez) has been treading the boards for over 25 years across Europe and North America, mixing soulful, funky blues with traditional foot tappin’ blues grooves and rock ‘n’ roll.

Big Dez has recently returned from the US where he's been playing at Chicago blues clubs including Buddy Guy's Legends Club, followed by dates on the East Coast and down south at the renowned Texas music capital in Austin and clubs in Dallas. And BIG DEZ continues to be a big draw on the European festival scene.

Big Dez brings his French musicians with him on this tour and we really can’t wait to see those guitar licks again. Look below at what Blues Revue magazine USA had to say about him:

“Fernandez is heavily influenced by Albert Collins and Chicago blues; Fernandez’s slashing guitar combines Albert Collins’ icy tension with Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson¹s metallic crunch, and vocals like Omar Kent Dykes”

Support comes from Mike Fuke and his Blues Direction trio, very well received at their previous appearance at St Harmonica's a little while ago.
