Justin Light & The Midnighters

Justin Light

First time for this band at St Harmonica’s Blues Club and we are looking forward to this. Justin Light & The Midnighters offer up a rocking and rollicking evening of high-octane rhythm and blues. Their song writing employs traditional blues structures, catchy hooks, sassy lyrics and are accompanied by stinging guitar tones, groovy bass lines and incendiary drums all of which are stretched out in the live setting through some intense improvisation and crowd pleasing danceable grooves.

Justin Light has been in many varied bands over the years including Youth of Britain, The Sonic Jewels and The Atomic Workers and as such, has had the chance to record and perform in some fantastic places including Abbey Road, Reading Festival and Ronnie Scott’s. He has supported Annastasia and The Prodigy on tour (not at the same time!) Blues has always been a constant so returned to the fore during lockdown when he conceived, wrote, performed, recorded, produced and released his first solo album. (ask Alexa et al for "Sunshine Cafe by Justin Light"). As soon as public performance was allowed again, Justin was out playing small clubs and festivals in and around London. In 2021 Justin played Landed Festival in Mid-Wales and joined The Daybreakers onstage at the De Valence at Tenby Blues Festival as well as performing two sets of his own material to a packed-out room at the festival.

In 2022 Justin wrote new material, found bandmates Woodie (bass) and Marcello (drums) on the London jam scene, formed The Midnighters, played a couple of festivals, secured a residency with The Guitar Social, played several times at Ain’t Nothing But… in Soho, The Night Owl, Finsbury Park, Fiddlers Elbow, Camden, Water Rats, Kings Cross, TAM Elephant, began work on an album, returned to Tenby Blues Festival to play two shows and numerous jam sessions packing out the venues.

2023 has seen more new material, more gigs and more audience participation including an album launch at Ain't Nothing But..., a return to Tenby Blues Festival and a show at the prestigious venue St Harmonica's Blues Club. The album is out on 12” Vinyl and also on all digital platforms now. Undoubtedly, T-shirts will follow!

Support is also top drawer in the form of Brett Marvin, glorious slide guitar playing accompanied by Keef Trouble on Zobstick playing authentic blues.
