The Low Down Dogs

A great start to 2024 last week from Connor Selby, always good to see young people playing and singing the blues so well. This Friday sees old people performing the blues with the welcome return of The Low Down Dogs bringing you their eclectic take on Blues from the Mississippi Delta to the New River Delta via many places in between. Equally at home with acoustic material, plaintive slow blues and rocking classics, the Low Down Dogs bring discerning musicianship to their act. Mad Dog Dave Barnes, the godfather of North London Blues, brings his sublime vocals, harmonica and slide guitar to the party alongside John Crowther on vocals, guitar and mandolin, while the rhythm section is provided by Dave Thomas, electric and acoustic bass, and Pete Abernethy, drums and percussion. Expect some new material alongside the usual favourites from the Dogs, with all members sharing vocal duties.

Support comes in the form of Pulling Strings - Simon Bennett with Tig Trafford and their folk/roots offering.
