We really enjoy evenings when we’re able to put on a ‘double header’ with two bands on the same night.
This Friday sees musicians who have played at St Harmonica’s before and these bands are newer projects that they are involved with so it is the first time for these incarnations at the club.
Three Way Boogie kick off proceedings for us at 8.30pm, led by the irrepressible Paul Hilder on vocals and guitar, formerly of the legendary Hill Street Blues Band who will be joined on stage by the Reverend Gary Jones on Harmonica.
Three Way Boogie were a huge hit at Livestock back in July and we are looking forward to their debut at the club on Friday. Featuring original and classic material heavily influenced by Peter Green. This band are sure to delight.
At 10.00pm it is the turn of The Feltham Cicadas all of whom are either currently, or have been, members of Jump 66. Sensing a growing interest in their genre of blues these four experienced blues musicians play 70s Southend style British R‘n‘B (think early Dr Feelgood, Eddie & The Hotrods etc) but they're not a tribute band as 75% of their set are originals. The Feltham Cicadas play short, stripped back, hard-hitting blues and soul; good old-fashioned Pubrock like it used to be.
So, two top bands on one night with all the welcome, comfort and service that you’ve come to expect from St Harmonica’s Blues Club at the Southgate Club
