It is always a delight to host a new band at St Harmonica’s and this Friday it is the turn of Stuart Maxwell’s Blues Raiders.
Stuart Maxwell is one of the most respected harmonica players in British blues. He has toured the UK, Europe and Scandinavia and has recorded live sessions for BBC Radio 1 and the BBC Radio 2 blues show. His music has also been featured on BBC Radio 3‘s Late Junction. He was the front man for the Mick Ralphs Blues Band (Bad Company, Mott the Hoople), played Hammond organ with the Pete Brown band (Cream, Graham Bond, Piblokto!), and toured with 70s R&B icons Brewer's Droop. He also made four critically-acclaimed albums with the progressive blues band Storm Warning.
The Blues Raiders are Stuart Maxwell harmonica/keyboards/vocals; Matt Edwards, guitar; Derek White, bass; and Jason Reeve, drums. Expect an entertaining evening of classic and original blues from this very impressive line up of musicians.
Support comes in the form of Graham Hine, aka Brett Marvin. One of the UK’s great slide guitarists. Graham brings his take on early Mississippi blues with some originals and familiar tunes.
Support act starts 8.30pm followed by two sets from the main act starting shortly after 9.00pm.
